How a Laser Rangefinder Works

Bushnell's laser rangefinders use an undetectable, eye-safe Class 1 laser beam (as categorized by the FDA) which is bounced off distant things at the press of a button. The rangefinder's high-speed digital clock determines the time it takes for a laser beam to reach a target and return to the unit.Next, using advanced digital electronic devices, the rangefinder immediately computes the distance to within a yard and shows the range in either backyards or meters on a through-the-lens LCD show. The entire process is so fast that less than a 2nd elapses between the time you press the button to the time the specific range to your target is shown.
